One Direction’s Niall Horan Reveals What They Get Up To On The Tour Bus
Niall Horan has revealed what he and his One Direction bandmates get up to on their plush tour bus.
They don’t sit around and sing songs, they don’t fart on each other’s faces, they don’t have food fights and they don’t flirt with groupies. Well maybe they do, but that’s not what the lads were doing this evening in Glasgow.
Before they took to the Scottish stage tonight, Niall revealed that he, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and the bus driver indulged in another of their made up games. This one was called ‘faces’. We wish we’d been one of the fans waiting outside. How much fun would that have been? Nialler tweeted:
“meself, @Real_Liam_Payne @louis_tomlinson @zaynmalik and the bus driver just played the funniest game ever on the bus ! #faces”
Horan tried to explain the games to some interested fans and added:
“there’s no winner that’s the funny part”
However he soon gave up and wrote:
“it’s a hard one to explain ! Need about 7000 characters”
Eventually the boys did get down to work and they kicked off the Scottish leg of their Take Me Home tour in Glasgow SECC. Niall loved every minute of it and tweeted just minutes ago saying:
“What a great show glasgow, i love scotland! What a great place! U guys were mental, lets do it all again tomorrow shall we ? #1DinGlasgow”
The lads will perform in the same venue tomorrow night, before hitting the road again and travelling down to Cardiff for the next leg.
We imagine that by the time they get to Ireland next week, Faces will be seeming pretty old and they’ll have to invent another crazy game.
Maybe the next one will be called ‘snog the nearest fan’. Now that would be good!
Breakthrough Winner Ben Howard Slams One Direction
Singer song-writer Ben Howard has hit out at One Direction and the Brit Awards, saying that everyone “groaned” when the boys were announced as best group.
The star, named Best Breakthrough at the bash, poured the hate on the 1D boys as he’d have preferred to see rockier acts honoured at the show, blaming Simn Cowell’s proteges fo helping make things “tame”.
“It was definitely a pretty tame awards show. There weren’t many rock groups there. You heard this audible groan around the hall when One Direction were up for ‘Best Group’,” The Wolves singer told The Sun.
The star did say that he’d like to remain anonymous, but he may have a hard job on his hands after slamming Directioners’ heroes. “I hope the Brits hasn’t ruined anything. I may have shot myself in the foot. I have a platinum-selling record but I can walk around fine,” Howard.
A stranger to the limelight, he still found it pretty cool to be trending on Twitter, saying:”I got told that ‘Who the f**k is Ben Howard’ was trending on Twitter – I like the idea of it. I was never in music to make it to awards shows. I s**t myself when the paparazzi were taking photos.”
Even the paparazzi though didn’t have a clue who the understated singer was, as he added: “It was bizarre but the nice thing was most of photographers were still like, ‘Who is this guy?’”
Ben isn’t the first musician to take aim at the popsters, with Jake Bugg telling Shortlist:”People [call them the new Beatles] because they broke America, but that don’t mean a thing.
“I mean, [One Direction] must know that they’re terrible. They must know… Calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement. And people should stop making it.”
Adele & One Direction Record Mammoth Digital 2012 Album Sales
Oscar-winner Adele is on top of the world after it was revealed her album 21 was the biggest seller of last year.
The “Someone Like You” star shifted 8.3 million copies of the album – three million more than the next best-seller and went some way to help the music industry record an increase in revenue for the first time since 1999.
One Direction’s global appeal was also reflected in the figures which show the boyband, put together on the X Factor in 2010, sold almost nine million albums.
Their debut Up All Night sold 4.5 million, while its follow-up Take Me Home has racked up sales of 4.4 million.
A report published today by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which represents 1,400 record companies around the world, shows revenues rose by around 0.3% to 16.5 billion US dollars in 2012 (£10.8 billion) with digital sales accounting for around a third of the revenue.
Its chief executive Frances Moore said: “It is hard to remember a year for the recording industry that has begun with such a palpable buzz in the air.
“These are hard-won successes for an industry that has innovated, battled and transformed itself over a decade. They show how the music industry has adapted to the internet world, learned how to meet the needs of consumers and monetised the digital marketplace.”
Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen topped the 2012 global singles chart with “Call Me Maybe” which sold 12.5 million copies.
Other big sellers include Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” which sold 11.8 million copies and Psy’s Gangnam Style, which sold 9.7 million.
Simon Cowell Insists One Direction “Won’t Go Off The Rails”
He’s known the boys since they were five Bieber-haired youngsters auditioning on The X Factor and watched them become *the* biggest thing in the universe, but Simon Cowell insists fame hasn’t gone to One Direction’s heads and that they’re still as grounded as ever.
When Heat mag caught up with big boss Si outside Sony’s BRITs afterparty last week and expressed concerns over the 1D lads following the same sorry fate as his old school 90s boyband Five, Simon was quick to put the world at ease.
“We have the very best team imaginable for the boys. They are the most grounded artists I’ve ever worked with,” Simon said.
And Si-Cow also made sure we knew what lovely lads the 1D chaps are, continuing “They’re really nice boys, so there are no tantrums. It’s my job to make sure they are happy.”
GAH, we wish it was our job to make them happy. Sigh.
Well at least we know the lads haven’t gone all Mariah Carey on us just yet, and it doesn’t look like we can expect any 2007 Britney-style meltdowns anytime soon. Except the head shaving thing, ’cause Liam’s obvs already done that.
Niall Horan Gets His Car Towed But He’s Still Happy!
Niall Horan has always been a bit of a goody two shows in our eyes. Sure he isn’t as sensible as Liam Payne and ok, he’s probably the cheekiest member of One Direction but he doesn’t have a tattoo and doesn’t party as hard as Harry Styles and he is always single.
We were a little bit surprised then when the Irish hunk revealed today that he may have broken the law, or a guideline, or a parking rule or something, because he claimed his car had been towed.
Nialler has only been driving for about five minutes but already he’s been rubbing some parking inspectors up the wrong way and he tweeted his fans today saying:
“Got back to the car and it wasnt there! #towed.”
He also uploaded a photo of an empty parking space. Whoops!
But don’t panic all you thrifty Directioners. Niall did not have to go out and splash the cash on a new automobile. He got his motor back, and from the sound of it got a bit of a telling off too and a lecture on parking times and regulations.
He messaged, “Got it back hahaha! Sorted! Didnt see the sign that said “no parkin between 4 and 6 ” ahh”
The incident probably hasn’t dented Horan’s mood though as the blonde star has been remarkably chipper all week.
It’s probably something to do with performing at The Brits, winning a Global Success award, topping the UK single charts with the fastest selling track of the year so far and the best selling Comic Relief song ever. If all that has nothing to do with it, then maybe he’s happy to be back on the road again!
Niall and his four bandmates kicked off their Take Me Home tour at the weekend in London’s O2 Arena and the handsome star enjoyed every minute of it. He tweeted today saying:
“London that show was incredible last night! Like couldn’t believe how crazy you guys were! Amazing night! A great weekend of shows all round”
To top it off, Nialler passed ten million followers on Twitter today and added:
“Yesssss ! 10M followers! Massive thank you guys ! Love you all”
One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson Gets Cup Of Tea Tattoo
Louis Tomlinson takes his art very seriously, very seriously indeed!
The One Direction singer loved his recent chart topping single ‘Little Things’ so much, that he has apparently used it as inspiration for his latest piece of body art.
The hunk has become a little addicted to tattoos, since Harry Styles and Zayn Malik introduced him to the joys of permanent inking in Dublin last year and tonight, he uploaded a picture of what looked like his latest creation to Instagram.
The photo shows an arm, with a drawing of a steaming cup of tea on it and he accompanied the picture with the caption ‘You can’t go to bed.’
Directioners won’t need us to point out the fact that this is a line from the Ed Sheeran penned song ‘Little Things’, that reached number 1 in the UK when One Direction released it back in 2012.
Lou Lou hinted that the tattoo was on the cards last week when he tweeted:
““More tattoos soon!””
Of course rumours have already started on Twitter that Tommo’s tattoo is actually dedicated to his bandmate Harry Styles.
The pair spoke of their love of a brew in an interview with Top Of The Pops magazine last year when Lou said:
“We do really normal things.”
“Like a couple of weeks ago I made a cup of tea, then went and got in bed with Harry and we watched a show called something like The Top 50 Boybands Of All Time,” he continued.
Harry tweeted back in 2011 saying:
“‘@LouisTomlinson just got in my bed with a cup of tea. Backstreet Boys are on 4 Music…Typical Wednesday”
One Direction’s On Stage Violence! Harry Styles Gives Niall Horan Nipple Burn & Liam Payne Throws A Punch
One Direction are only a couple of days into their epic Take Me Home world tour and already the violence has started with the boys resorting to a bit of on-stage mischief to the delight of millions of Directioners!
Harry, Niall, Liam, Louis and Zayn kicked off their 117 date tour at the weekend, taking to the stage at London’s 02 to wow the first batch of fans lucky enough to score tickets. Whilst the group impressed with their harmonising and dance moves, it was their trademark pranks that set twitter alight after the gigs.
On the opening night of the tour on Saturday, naughty Harry Styles apparently gave band mate Niall Horan nipple burn. The Irish cutie’s nipples was exposed when his low-cut vest slipped to the side, according to Now!, leading to Harry having a quick grab and twist as poor Niall tried to play a guitar solo. Ouch!
Ever the pro, Niall managed to continue playing despite the pain! Fans soon picked up on the nip tweak though, with many just happy to get a glimpse of Niall’s bod:
“Highlight of my day; seeing @NiallOfficial nipple, and just his face, oh his whole self is perfection <3," one audience member tweeted.
Harry soon got a taste of his own medicine later on in the gig though as Liam Payne inexplicably appeared to hit Hazza in his nether regions as they sung on stage! Harry was doubled over in pain and appeared to take a moment to recover from the shock punch.
Steady on boys you've still got eight months of touring left!
One Direction Get Warm Welcome in Glasgow From Devoted Directioners
One Direction are coming to Glasgow this week and we are more than a little excited by the fact that Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson are going to be doing their thang north of the border.
To celebrate, we took some devoted, die-hard Directioners along to Pizza Hut at Argyle Street Glasgow: say hello to Kellie, Jennifer, Alexandra, Holly, Angelique, Rebecca, Laura, Hannah, Abbie, Katie, Kirsty and Emma.
We weren’t just treating them to a slap up lunch. Oh-no, we were allowing the fans to get a taste of Mr Styles, as Harry famously chomped on a cheesy stuffed crust delight at that very restaurant last month, when he was in town to visit his friend, Ellis Calcutt.
After our gorgeous girls, who ranged from three to 15, had devoured Harry’s favourite barbeque stuffed crust, they set to work, telling us why Scottish fans are the most dedicated Directioners in the world – and we believe them!
Amongst the questions we asked our music misses was: “who is your favourite member of the band?”
Niall Horan emerged triumphant, with his Irish accent hitting a soft spot with our lovely lassies.
Katy, our youngest fan, wasn’t quite so fussy. In an adorable clip, she told us: “I like all of them!” Let’s hope the lads are watching because we think Katy is the cutest 1Der we’ve ever seen!
The girls told us they can’t wait to watch the boys take to the stage at Glasgow’s SECC on Tuesday (February 26) and Wednesday (February 27) and they are ready to show the boys that Scotland have the loudest fans in the world.
They also sent some messages for the group, telling them just how much they mean to them.
Watch the video here and prepare to say “awwww” as 1D-mania sweeps through Scotland.
Plus, if you spot the boys out and about in Glasgow, we want to hear from you. Tweet us using the #1Dwatch and we will endeavour to track the lads down and bring you all the gossip from their journey to Scotland. One Way or Another, we aim to find 1D!
One Direction’s Harry Styles Causes Rolling Stones Shirt Sales To Rocket
He may already be a member of the world’s most successful band but it seems that Harry Styles is also becoming something of a style icon – and boosting sales of retro t-shirts!
The floppy-haired singer has boosted sales of replica Rolling Stones t-shirts after he wore one at the opening concert of One Direction’s tour in London on Saturday night.
Harry wore the black top – complete with the iconic Stones’ ‘lips and tongue’ logo – when the band took to the stage at the O2 at the weekend and this has led to a run on the design, according to one web retailer.
Secretsales.com have claimed a massive sales boost since Saturday’s show and revealed that 86% of purchases have been made by women – keen to make their other half look a bit more like Harry, perhaps?
The site’s Buying Director, Sach Kukadia, said: “One Direction is the biggest band around at the moment and the boys are becoming style icons in their own right.
“Harry however has the largest fashion following as we continually see search results for items he is pictured in.”
The webstore was quick to try and boost sales of the in-demand clothing – slashing 60% off and reducing the price of the shirts to a tenner.
Saturday’s gig was the first of nearly 40 concerts that Harry and his bandmates will play in the UK before the end of March – including dates in Glasgow this week and in April – and came in the same week they picked up a BRIT Award for their global success.
One Direction Score No 1 With Fastest Selling Single of 2013
One Direction One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks) has landed the No 1 slot on the Official UK Singles Chart this week.
The Comic Relief song – which is the fastest selling single of 2013 so far – has impressively toppled Avicii Vs Nicky Romero I Could Be The One from the top slot, which has slid all the way down to No 5.
Macklemore is still holding on to the No 2 spot with Thrift Shop and Harlem Shake’s Baauer remains at No 3.
Justin Timberlake’s performance at the BRITS could well be the reason that Mirrors has leapt 24 places to enter the top five at No 4.
Meanwhile, over in the album charts, BRITs album of the year Our Version Of Events sees Emeli Sande reclaim the No 1 slot.
Mumford & Sons follow closely behind with Bable at No 2 and BRITs best British male and best breakthrough winner, Ben Howard’s album New Kingdom is a re-entry at No 4 – its highest position in the Official Uk Album Chart.
The highest new entry of the week comes from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds who enter the chart at No 3 with their new album Push the Sky Away.
Last week’s No 1 Les Miserables soundtrack slides down four places to No 5.
