During some downtime on the set of their “What Makes You Beautiful” music video, the boys of One Direction decided to cover a tune from another famed British band, Oasis. In 1995, just a year or two after many of the members of 1D were born, Oasis’ song “Wonderwall” hit the airwaves and became a chart topping hit.

The song continues to resurface, including in a number of millennium based shows like “The OC,” so it seems fitting that One Direction recorded their video on a beach similar to the ones found in Orange County. Their acoustic cover has received mixed reviews from fans of the original version. What do you think?

One Direction fans, rejoice: the British pop stars are expected to perform at the closing ceremonies of the 2012 Olympics, along with singer Ed Sheeran, among others.
As HuffPost UK reports, One Direction is one of England’s biggest musical exports right now, so it seems only fitting the boys take the stage during the closing event in their home country.
Although the news has yet to be confirmed, the teen twitterverse erupted in excitement when the unofficial twitter account dedicated to breaking olympic news, @updateolympic, wrote: “Yes it’s true… Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Jesse J, Taio Cruz and Tinie Tempah will be performing at the closing Ceremony of The Olympics.”
The boys, themselves, haven’t been shy about their love for the Games. Niall Horan recently tweeted: “Dont know if its just me, but the excitement in london is unbelievable! Its gona be a great games.” And Liam Payne revealed his own personal connection to the event: “If i wasnt in 1D , running in the olympics would of been my dream :),” he tweeted.
Fans of a certain rival British boy band, however, reacted to the One Direction

‘What Makes You Beautiful’ performance has Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and even first lady Michelle Obama on their feet.
One Direction continued their Stateside takeover Saturday (March 31) at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
And there was no question about their popularity: The piercing screams from the crowd when their performance was announced was enough confirmation. The boys drove the girls even wilder when just their outlines appeared before they kicked into their song “What Makes You Beautiful” and emerged onstage.
Every girl in the audience — including Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Ashley Tisdale and their posse of ladies — knew all the words and sang along. Even first lady Michelle Obama couldn’t keep herself from clapping!
The guys’ dapper style was in full force, with each member wearing a different black-and-white look. Ginormous white bouncy balls went flying through the crowd throughout the performance, and the OD dudes finished their set by knocking a few of the orbs back into the audience with huge grins on their faces.
Even before their Kids’ Choice performance, it was pretty clear One Direction were making a big impression on America. Just a few weeks ago, OD’s Up All Night made Billboard history by becoming the first debut album by British group to enter the chart at #1, and the album also topped the charts in 15 other countries.
And their U.S. television appearances didn’t begin and end with the KCA: One Direction promoted their first album on the “Today” show earlier this month, and next week, they will be the musical guests on “Saturday Night Live.”
“We obviously get American TV in the U.K., and I’ve watched ‘Saturday Night Live’ before … and ‘Saturday Night Live’ is a big, big deal, everyone knows that. And when we got invited on, we couldn’t believe it,” One Direction’s Niall Horan told MTV News last week. “Again, we haven’t spent a lot of time here, so a lot of people don’t know who we are, so to be invited on such a prestigious American show is pretty amazing.”
