Their energetic performances is one of the reasons why One Direction are now worldwide superstars.

But it seems that Louis Tomlinson got a little bit over-excited during the boy band’s Belfast concert this week, injuring his knee during the Irish leg of the Take Me Home tour.

Obviously upset that his injury has left him having to hobble through the band’s songs, the 21-year-old apologised to his fans on his Twitter account.

The young singer, who has been touring the UK and Ireland with One Direction since the beginning of the year may have over-exerted himself during one high-energy routine, leaving himself with a painful leg.

And the results of his injuries were clear to see as he spent Monday’s show limping around the stage rather than joining in with the others boys.

Obviously embarrassed about his poor knee, the heartthrob decided to aplogise to all of his fans on Twitter for the fact that he wouldn’t be able to give his usual calibre of high-energy performing for the next few days.

‘Ah well f**k it . I apologise if I’m not jumping around on stage as much , stupid knee ! #kneedtogetbetter ( terrible joke),’ he wrote, cracking a joke in the process.

Not long before Louis had clearly been feeling sorry for himself, writing: ‘Knee hurts :(,’ before adding yet another sad face for added drama.

And the former X Factor star got some extra sympathy from band-mate Niall Horan, who tweeted: ‘Belfast! That was an amazing , poor aul Tommo an his knee! Hahaha! Great week up here ! See ya soon! #1DTMHT.’

But Louis won’t have long to recuperate as the band are going to be on the road for much of the year, touring the rest of the UK before heading to the US in June.

The band have also just announced an extra date for their sell-out tour, which will be at London’s O2 Arena on 6 April.

While Liam was resting his knee during the boys’ Dublin, band-mate Harry Styles and Niall were making the most of the nightlife.

ONE Direction kicked off their world tour in style this afternoon with a massive London show.

The chart-topping quintet of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan, packed out the O2 Arena for a matinee performance.

And after the event a thrilled Louis tweeted: “Loved it !!!!”

Girls flocked to the south London venue with messages of love for their idols.

One held a picture of Harry aloft simply reading: “I heart you Harry.”

While another banner professed adoration for both Harry and Louis with the message: “U are hot, cute and handsome.”

But there was much love for the whole group outside the capital’s concert venue.

The boys went for a casual look on stage with Liam wearing a simple T-shirt with the CND logo on it.

At one point he took a rest by parking his bum on a convenient speaker.

Niall and Louis enjoyed an elegant twirl in the middle of the stage.

Heart-throb Harry — who showed his appreciation for the Rolling Stones in a rock legend’s top — tweeted before the gig: “Tomorrow. Boom Baby.”

Niall posted a snap of the venue and tweeted: “It’s happening ! We’re here #TMHtour is kicking off.”

And it’s going to be hectic year for the youngsters as their world tour sees them staying in the UK until April 19 before heading to Europe and the US.

They will be on the road until November when the tour comes to an end in Japan.

Liam also showed his excitement by tweeting “Tour dayyyyy! :)”

And the guys are going to be Up All NIght performing their evening show.

Liam Payne learned the hard way that Twitter can be a nasty breeding ground for jealous fangirls.

The One Direction singer, who is dating dancer Danielle Peazer, was outraged when users of the site tweeted derogatory comments about his girlfriend.

“Just as I start to like twitter again I see the nasty side of people who like to dislike somebody who makes me … Me,” he wrote Sunday.

“#SometimesIHateTwitter when it becomes a place to abuse people who uve never met never did anything to you but you still choose to be cruel,” he added.

Liam told “all those horrible people who are going to be dicks and tweet her horrible stuff now just because i mentioned it” to “grow up.”

He was quick to clarify, however, that he appreciates “all those people are who are nice” and said his girlfriend “often reads me nice things people say to her and it makes me smile love you guys.”

Liam wasn’t afraid to stand up for his lady, and Harry Styles wasn’t fazed when his bandmates stripped him down for the fans!

Unperturbed by the guys’ laughter, a surprised Harry kept singing “What Makes You Beautiful,” although the lyrics were barely discernible over the crowd’s shrill screams.

With their 2012 tour of the United States completely sold out and commitments lined up for the rest of the year that will keep them from returning, One Direction has gone ahead and scheduled a tour of North American arenas for Summer 2013.

Fans gobbled up tickets to the British boy band’s May/June 2012 tour, as well as its Dec. 3 show at NYC’s Madison Square Garden. The group announced on Thursday that their 2013 world tour will begin a 25-city run in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on June 13 and will stop in New York City, Chicago, Denver, Montreal and Las Vegas before wrapping up in Los Angeles on Aug. 7.

Breaking a new record, the boy band One Direction sold out their Madison Square Garden performance in December in less than an hour!

hey aren’t kidding around with this British Invasion business! The hot boy group, One Direction, managed to sell out the third largest venue in the world, Madison Square Garden, when tickets went on sale April 6 in record time!

“So the boys broke YET another record :) Sold Madison Square Gardens in less than a minute #properband #proudmummy X” Joanna, Louis Tomlinson‘s mom, wrote.

“Wow msg I can not wait its going to be the most amazing night ever thank you so much for helping uss sell out madison square gardens!!!! :)x,” Liam Payne tweeted.

Zayn Malik couldn’t believe the news and tweeted, “Massive thanks to every1 that’s bought a ticket to our show at maddison square gardens #amazingnews ! :) x x”

The boys, who finished third on ‘The X Factor’ season 7, are going to perform live at the MSG in the Big Apple on December 3.

One Direction might not be able to perform at the White House this coming weekend, but they make it up to their fans by announcing a headlining concert at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City. The boys are scheduled to invade the MSG in December.

The gig is promised to be a “massive” one in order to finish off the boyband’s “amazing year” throughout 2012. In the first quarter of the year, they have already busted the U.S. charts and became the first U.K. group to ever debut at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 200 at first try, thanks to their album “Up All Night“.

In addition to closing their eventful year, the upcoming concert is also held due to overwhelming popular demand of the band’s summer tour Stateside. Niall Horan and his bandmates won’t hit the road until May 24, but have completely sold out tickets for the upcoming roadshow.

The MSG concert is scheduled to take place on December 3 with tickets going on general sale starting Friday, April 6 at 5 P.M. EST.

The ‘Gotta Be You’ singers have admitted they will miss the feeling of being on the road now their first headlining tour has ended.

One Direction have admitted they are ‘gutted’ that their first headlining tour of the UK and Ireland has ended.

The ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ singers have spent the past month performing 21 concerts across the breadth of the country, and have thanked fans for an “amazing time” on the road.

“I would just like to thank every single one of you who bought a ticket to come and see us on tour,” Louis Tomlinson tweeted this morning (27^th January). “We really did have an amazing time. 

“Gutted the tour is over!” Niall Horan also posted today. “Was soo much fun! Thanks to all of u for your support!”

‘One Thing’ singer Harry Styles also spoke out about his split from The Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack yesterday, and has insisted the break-up was a “mutual decision”.

The ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ singers rounded off their first major UK tour this week after 21 gigs across the country.

One Direction wrapped their headlining tour of the UK and Ireland last night with a final performance in Belfast.

The ‘Gotta Be You’ singers took to the stage at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall Auditorium yesterday (26^th January) for the last night of their ‘Up All Night Tour’.

One Direction kicked off their first headline tour on 21^st December 2011 and have performed 21 dates in cities including Nottingham, Brighton, Liverpool, Cardiff, Glasgow, Dublin and London.

Yesterday band member Liam Payne thanked their fans for coming to see them live and said he “can’t wait for the next tour’”.

One Direction premiered the music video for their current single ‘One Thing’ earlier this month and have also released a special behind-the-scenes video from the shoot.

One Direction have admitted that they are feeling “emotional” and “sad” ahead of their final show of their UK and Ireland ‘Up All Night’ tour.

The ‘Gotta Be You’ singers will climax their jaunt in Belfast this evening (26^th January) with a performance at the Waterfront Hall Auditorium.

Taking to his Twitter account earlier today, singer Liam Payne tweeted: “last show today guys sad but exciting day x,” before Louis Tomlinson added: “Getting emotional haha. ”

Liam also went on to thank the band’s fans for all their support and admit that he can’t wait for the next time the group hit the road.

He tweeted: “just want to say a massive thank you to all our uk fans who came to the tour you made our first tour very special.”

“amazing audiences every single night ive had such an amazing time and its all thanks to you we love you guys cant wait for the next tour.”

Meanwhile, One Direction released a behind the scenes look at the making of their recent music video for new single ‘One Thing’ which shows Zayn Malik suprising Liam by planting a kiss on his face.

The boy band also recently announced details of a new track called ‘I Should Of Kissed You ‘ as the B side to accompany their latest release.
