+ One Direction go Roman style for Verona gig in oldest venue yet
Posted on: May 20 Filed Under: Articles Comments: No Comments

They might have just announced their 2014 world tour, but the One Direction boys are still very much in the midst of this year’s Take Me Home Tour.

And the fivesome – who announced news that they were set to embark on their very first world stadium tour next year last week – were greeted with hoards of female fans once again as they headed over to the Italian City of Verona ahead of their performance tonight, which will see them perform in their oldest venue yet.

Thousands of fans queued up outside the historic venue waiting to catch a glimpse of their favourite member, as they took part in rehearsals inside.

The group, who shot to fame on the X Factor, have become a global phenomenon since their debut single in 2011 and have topped charts in more than 37 countries, but the boys are obviously still overwhelmed by the hugeness of their success.

Peering over the barriers at the waiting crowds, the boyband looked on in desbelief as they smiled and waved at their adoring fans, taking photos on their mobile phones as they did.

The ampitheatre – which holds 15,000 people – is over 2000 years old and has featured some of the world’s most famous opera singers, as well as huge bands such as Pink Floyd and Muse.

The boys took to twitter to express their excitement about playing at the venue. Harry Styles wrote: ‘Can’t wait to play Verona tonight. It could rain. Which would make things intersting.’

While Liam Payne said: ‘Verona are you ready for tonight though:) exciteddd :)’

One Direction shot to fame after coming third in the 2010 series of the X Factor, where they lost out to singer-songwriter Matt Cardle.

But the five-piece have gone on to eclipse the eventual winner, enjoying a string of top 10 singles, recording two hit albums and are now about to release their first film, 1D3D.

And it looks as though their success is only about to increase, with the annoucnement of their first world stadium tour.

+ Louis Tomlinson Reacts to The Wanted Diss of One Direction: “So Frustrating”
Posted on: May 19 Filed Under: Articles, Louis Tomlinson Comments: No Comments

Louis Tomlinson has more on his mind than One Direction’s upcoming world tour and new album, taking to Twitter to express his frustration after rival boy band The Wanted discussed the groups’ feud in a radio interview.

Earlier this week, The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness told an Australian morning show of the beef, “You hear comments in interviews, and they wind you up and vice versa… it’s kind of fake, and then also a few of the lads have wound me up personally.”

Bandmate Max George added, “I don’t mind a couple of them… I don’t mind Harry [Styles],” calling him a “top shagger” whose success with women he admires.

McGuiness said of Styles, “I think he’s retained manners and a bit of dignity, [but] some of them when they mouth off, it really gets under my skin.”

“Because it riles up loads of 14-year-old girls, [and] there’s no need for that,” said McGuiness.

On Saturday, Tomlinson seemed to respond, although he did not mention McGuiness or The Wanted by name.

The One Direction performer tweeted, “So frustrating when people talk the talk in the press but when it comes down to it not a word is said face to face!”

Of course, the on-and-off feud between the groups has erupted on social media in the past.

Stay tuned.

+ One Direction Want To Emulate Take That’s Stadium Tour
Posted on: May 16 Filed Under: Articles Comments: No Comments

One Direction have revealed they want to emulate manband Take That with their forthcoming stadium world tour, Where We Are.

MTV News UK were present at the lads’ press conference at Wembley Stadium today (May 16) where they confirmed plans to perform in the UK, Ireland and South America.

When asked where they see themselves in ten years time, Liam Payne replied: “We want to do this for as long as we can really.

“We came to watch Take That at Wembley when they were doing their stadium tour and we couldn’t believe how big it was, so if we can emulate something like that, i think thats the way to go.”

Louis Tomlinson added: “For us, it’s more about keeping our feet on the ground and taking every day as it comes. That would be great, but at the moment we are just set for the stadiums – i cant believe I’m saying it.”

1D also spoke about their forthcoming 3D concert flick This Is Us, with Niall Horan saying:”It’s good in the movie because people can see what we’re like behind the scenes.

Harry Styles agreed: “On Twitter you only have 140 characters, you can’t get personality across in ten minute interviews.

“It’s going to be a lot more of how we interact and how we’re chilled out in the dressing room and it will be nice to see us as we are.”

Speaking of their third album, Louis revealed: “There will be a new album this year with a rockier and edgier tone to it.”

Liam added: “We’ve written a lot of the songs on it and we got the chance to work with a lot of great writers. It’s a bit more edgy. It’s grown as we’ve grown.”

+ One Direction Getting ‘Edgier’ In 2014 With Album, World Tour
Posted on: May 16 Filed Under: Articles Comments: No Comments

One Direction have a pretty busy 2014 ahead of them. On Thursday (May 16), the boy band announced early dates for their 2014 Where We Are stadium world tour and gave fans the inside scoop about their third album.

In footage from their press conference at London’s Wembley Stadium, the guys hinted that they’re making some changes on their next album, expected to hit retailers by the holidays.

“[We] had the chance to work with a lot of great writers and stuff, but we just made it a bit more edgier,” Liam Payne explained about the release, their follow-up to 2012′s Take Me Home. “Just subtle changes here and there so it kind of grows as we grow.”

While they didn’t give specifics, we do know that there will not be any songs penned by Ed Sheeran, who wrote tracks for Take Me Home and their debut Up All Night. But producer Julian Bunetta shared with us earlier this year that he had been in the studio with them.

Once they drop their album, the guys will take their act on the road for their Where We Are Tour, kicking off on April 25 in Colombia. So far, the band has announced a handful of dates for South America, the U.K. and Ireland. But U.S. fans shouldn’t fret; more dates will be announced soon.

Niall Horan tweeted, “Keep [your] eyes [peeled]! Please don’t be disappointed if your country wasnt announced! We will be announcing more over the year!”

The guys also shared on the tour’s website that “another #1BigAnnouncement coming soon.” Until then, they are currently on their Take Me Home world tour. And they’ll release their 3-D movie, “This Is Us,” in August.

+ Louis Tomlinson shows off MASSIVE moose tattoo
Posted on: May 04 Filed Under: Articles, Louis Tomlinson Comments: No Comments

Louis Tomlinson is in a tattoo off with his bandmates and it seems the boys’ inkings are getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

Earlier this year Harry Styles stepped out with a massive butterfly tattooed on his chest, and Louis followed suit with a pec located tat all of his own.

This week, while Tommo was playing football in Paris with his pal Niall Horan eagle eyed fans were sure they spotted some brand new bodyart and they were right. For some reason the handsome singer now has a massive tattoo of a moose on his upper arm.

We say it’s a moose but given that we aren’t really animal experts, it could also be described as a deer or stag, but still…..it’s a bit random don’t you think?

Louis has come a long way since he got his first inking in Dublin last October. Back then it was Harry and Zayn Malik with the body art addiction and he tweeted at the time saying:

“So Me and Liam joined the crew yesterday and got two screw tattoo’s on our ankles , now we all have it except Niall !Come on @NiallOfficial”

Liam has went light on the tats and only has a few, but Lou is definitely catching up on Malik and Styles pretty darn quickly.

Niall is still lily white and unmarked.

It seems that many fans like Tommo’s new art though and one tweeted last night saying:

“Perfect picture of Louis’ bicep. His new tattoo is so detailed, I love it. And he covered the heart up! ”

Another said:

“Louis is hot with tattoo tho. Really hot.”

However, others weren’t quite so positive and one fan wrote:

“THAT DEER TATTOO IS UGLY. JUST STOP MAKING NEW TATTOOS !!! @Louis_Tomlinson ”

A second added:

“What is with the attraction of large animals being tattoo’d on people’s arms @justinbieber @Louis_Tomlinson”

Currently, its thought that Harry leads the way with the most One Direction tattoos, with a massive 42, Zayn is thought to have around 31, Louis 16, Liam 5 and Niall of course has none.

+ Demi Lovato And One Direction’s Niall Horan? “Never Happened”
Posted on: May 03 Filed Under: Articles, Niall Horan Comments: No Comments

Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to find out who your true friends are, and that’s exactly what happened with Demi Lovato.

Back in 2010, the “Heart Attack” singer entered a treatment center for emotional and physical issues, and when she got out, she had a serious “wake-up call.”

“A couple of months before I went to rehab, I had a birthday party and there were a couple of hundred people there,” Lovato told the June issue of U.K. Company magazine. “It was full of people who I considered my closest friends. When I turned my phone on after being in rehab for three months, I expected lots of text messages and phone calls. I had four texts.”

Trying “not to be jaded” Lovato found new friendships outside of the Hollywood, but no matter how hard she tries to live out of the spotlight the gossip still follows, especially with rumored former flame, One Direction’s Niall Horan.

“I’m so tired of that! It never happened,” Lovato said. “Niall’s a really sweet guy and I definitely consider him a friend, but it’s never crossed that line… He’s a sweet kid and we have an understanding, but we’re just friends.”

As for now, Lovato is concentrating on her upcoming fourth studio album , set for release this month, and is getting ready for her return to “The X Factor” even if that means she will have to endure more quality time with her frenemy, Simon Cowell.

“He’s a grump. An old fart,” Lovato said. “But he has a heart that nobody gets to see. If he walked into this room, he’d treat everybody the same — he shakes everyone’s hand.”

The stars of One Direction launched the orange campaign on their Twitter.com pages, with Harry Styles writing, “So, for the show in Amsterdam tomorrow. You Must be wearing orange. Orange and orange and orange only. Wear orange. Orange…”

Niall Horan adds, “If you are coming to the Amsterdam show tonight at the Ziggo Arena (sic) make sure you wear Orange!

Turn Ziggo Orange,” and Louis Tomlinson concludes, “Everybody who’s coming to the Amsterdam gig… Please be advised there is a strict dress code of orange and only orange!”

+ Vaccines Frontman Defends One Direction Songwriting
Posted on: May 03 Filed Under: Articles Comments: 1 Comment

The Vaccines star Justin Young believes writing with pop phenomenon One Direction has not damaged his band’s credibility.

In February 1D’s Niall Horan revealed on Twitter he was working with Justin on new songs, while Harry Styles was a special guest of The Vaccines when the London rockers played at The Brit Awards War Child gig this year.

In an exclusive interview with MTV News before their huge O2 Arena headline show, Young said he understands why some Vaccines fans are disappointed about their collaboration, but the likeable frontman insists he “really enjoyed” the experience.

“They are both natural writers,” said Justin when we asked him about his recent studio time with teen dreams Niall and Harry.

“I love writing songs and love pop music, so the process was exciting. I don’t think they [One Direction] are going for a heavier, indie sound.

“Maybe it’s damaged my credibility, but it wasn’t The Vaccines who wrote for them, it was me, so I doubt it’s damaged the band’s.”

Since making MTV’s Brand New For 2011 shortlist, The Vaccines have become firm festival favourites and in September topped the UK album chart with their second record Come of Age.

Backstage ahead of their O2 Arena headline show, birthday boy Justin admitted he is still coming to terms with his band’s success.

“It’s insane because our first-ever gig in London was under three years ago, so to play here is mind-blowing.

“It’s massively surprising how far we’ve come so soon, because honestly my aim was to headline the Barfly with songs like If You Wanna and Wetsuit, so it’s crazy.”

And Justin revealed to us The Vaccines are hoping to release their third album next summer.

“We’ve just recorded a new EP in LA so we’re writing and I’m feeling really creative at the moment, so we’re going to come off the road in October and by this time next year it’ll be recorded.”

+ Laura Whitmore Denies Niall Horan Romance: “One Direction’s Fans Were Really Supportive”
Posted on: May 03 Filed Under: Articles, Niall Horan Comments: No Comments

MTV Presenter Laura Whitmore has denied that she is dating One Direction singer Niall Horan.

The ‘Live While We’re Young’ singer has been rumoured to be dating the fellow Irish star in recent weeks after the pair were pictured out together on a variety of nights.

Laura told the Daily Star that the two are “just friends” but was pleased to see the positive reaction from fans of the band.

“They were actually really supportive, saying things like: ‘You guys would make a cute couple’,” she told the publication. “But we’re just friends.”

Niall has also previously been linked to the likes of Demi Lovato in the past.

Meanwhile, One Direction are currently on the road with their ‘Take Me Home’ world tour – which heads to Amsterdam this evening.

The band have instructed fans to wear just orange clothes for the gig, teasing a possible inclusion in their upcoming 3D concert movie.

+ One Direction ‘Forced To Record Album In Hotel Rooms On ‘Take Me Home’ Tour’
Posted on: May 03 Filed Under: Articles Comments: No Comments

One Direction are working around the clock to ensure their next album is completed in time for Christmas with Louis Tomlinson revealing the lads are “shattered” after having to record the record in their hotel rooms while on their current ‘Take Me Home’ world tour.

The ‘Live While We’re Young’ hitmakers are currently on the European leg of the mammoth 120-date tour, and while they have very little time on their hands, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik have been putting in extra hours to ensure the record is out by Christmas.

Confirming that they are busy working on their third album, Louis told the Daily Star: “We’ve already started recording the album, we started about a month ago.

“We’ve been writing and recording it while on tour. We are really happy with it. We don’t want to rush it but it will be out for Christmas.”

According to the publication, the boys have set up portable recording studios in their hotel rooms as they travel across various cities and have even had creative input with the songwriting, working in pairs.

“We have the film coming out as well so we are all pretty shattered but we are all having a great time,” Louis added last week before 1D kicked off the European leg of their jaunt.

“We have had a week off this week before heading on to Europe for the tour.”
